An options trading journal that understands assignment

Most journals were built for stock traders: buy here, sell there, done. Premium sellers live in a loop — sell a put, maybe take shares, sell calls, start over. If your journal can't follow that loop, your numbers are fiction.

Why generic journals fail options sellers

A stock journal records one open and one close per trade. Selling premium doesn't work that way. A cash-secured put can expire worthless (win), be bought back early (win, smaller), or get assigned — and assignment isn't an ending, it's a hand-off: the trade becomes 100 shares and a new covered-call campaign. The P&L of the "trade" is still open.

The failure shows up in the numbers. Your journal says the put "lost $180" on assignment — but you also collected $240 in premium, then another $310 selling calls against the shares. Did you lose? Depends on basis, and basis depends on every premium dollar that came before. A journal that can't carry premium into basis will tell you a winning campaign is a loser.

Premium stacked into basis

Every put and call credit reduces what you really paid for the shares. ThetaIQ carries it automatically, per ticker.

Assignment is an event, not an ending

Put assignment opens a share lot; call assignment closes it. The campaign stays one continuous story.

Early closes and rolls

Bought back at 50% in 9 days? That's captured percentage and annualized yield — the metrics sellers actually manage by.

Spreads as first-class trades

Verticals and PMCCs log as two-leg structures with max risk, not as two confused stock trades.

What ThetaIQ records for you

Log a trade in seconds — or paste a screenshot of your broker fill and let the app read the legs. From there, the journal does the arithmetic sellers usually do in spreadsheets:

Review like you mean it

A journal you never re-read is a diary. ThetaIQ's Scoreboard turns your history into a review habit: performance split by strategy and ticker, streaks, and an honest answer to "which setups actually pay me?" It even splits out leveraged-ETF trades, so you can see whether the extra decay risk has been worth the richer premium. Elite members get a daily AI portfolio review on top — the book graded fresh every morning, with concentration and correlation called out by name.
